The Tijane Coordination of Dakar on Saturday held the 43rd “Islamic Cultural Days”, an annual event placed under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, and the honorary presidency of Senegalese Head of State Macky Sall.
Under the effective presidency of Khalifa General Sereigne Babacar Sy Mohamed Mansour, represented by former ambassador Sheikh Tidiane Sy, the official ceremony of the three-day religious gathering was marked by the participation of a large Moroccan delegation, including Ambassador to Senegal, Hassan Naciri, as well as presidents of several local Councils of Ulema.
President Macky Sall was represented at this ceremony, organized at the Great Mosque of Dakar, by Government Spokesperson, Abdou Karim Fofana.
At the start of this ceremony, President of the Tijane Coordination of Dakar, Hadj Tidiane Gaye, asked the Moroccan delegation to convey warm thanks and gratitude of the Coordination members to King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, for the high solicitude and particular interest the Sovereign has always granted to the Tijanes of Dakar, as well as all the religious families of Senegal.
Hadj Tidiane Gaye invited the audience to raise prayers to the Almighty for King Mohammed VI.
In an address, Government Spokesperson Abdou Karim Fofana, expressed the brotherly greetings on behalf of the Head of State, Macky Sall, to the King, Commander of the Faithful, for His continued support for the holding of these Islamic Cultural Days in Dakar.
“We are very happy with these centuries-old relations based on values, a convergence of visions and an unfailing brotherhood between the two countries,” Fofana underlined.
In a speech read on his behalf, Caliph General Sereigne Babacar Sy Mohamed Mansour praised the role of King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, and his tireless efforts and continuous actions to preserve religious constants and consolidate the strong spiritual ties and the centuries-old relations between Morocco and Senegal, as did his glorious ancestors.
Highlighting the deep spiritual relations between the two brotherly countries, he said that this religious event is a distinguished framework of solidarity for the Muslim community in Senegal and a suitable opportunity to instill in the rising generations Islam’s principles and values of tolerance and moderation.
In his speech on behalf of the Moroccan delegation, ambassador Hassan Naciri conveyed the Sovereign’s sincere greetings to the Tijane brotherhood, and highlighted the King’s constant solicitude for Tijanes in particular and all Sufi families in Senegal.
Naciri reaffirmed that Morocco’s participation in this event testifies to the King’s esteem for Sufi families in this brotherly country and reflects Morocco’s commitment to the values of moderate Islam.
