Several agreements were signed, Tuesday in Rabat, between Moroccan and French institutions and entities in public and private sectors, to further strengthen partnership in various sectors.
The agreements, sealed during the Morocco-France Entrepreneurial Meeting, testify to the two countries’ common ambition to upgrade their solid partnership in strategic areas, with sustainable and forward-looking cooperation.
The institutional agreements include a Memorandum of Understanding between the Moroccan Capital Market Authority and the Financial Markets Authority, a letter of intent for a €25 million loan from the French Development Agency (AFD) to the Guelmim-Oued Noun region to finance its regional development plan, and another letter of intent for a €100 million support from AFD for the development plan of the Casablanca-Settat region, in preparation for the 2030 World Cup.
Deals also include a partnership between Bpifrance and Attijariwafa bank and a cooperation agreement between the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Morocco and Bank of Africa for the development of French investments in Morocco and Africa.
In the private sector, an MoU between Suez and Safari for the marketing of products and solutions for Regional Multiservice Companies, a declaration of intent between Thales Alenia Space and Panafsat for the supply of a communications satellite, a cooperation agreement between MGH Energy and Petrom for the production of e-fuels in the Dakhla region, as well as a joint venture MoU between XXII and ABA Technology for sustainable development in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, were also signed.
The extension of the first partnership between the Hydrogen Task Force (MEDEF International) and the Green H2 Cluster, a partnership agreement between Electriciens Sans Frontières and Morocco Future Energy Leaders for access to electricity for vulnerable populations, and an MoU for a pilot digital water management solution between Aquasys and the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water were also signed.
An MoU on the creation of a regional technical center for the development of oilseed production in Morocco was signed by Avril, Agropol and the Interprofessional Federation of Oilseeds, as well as a framework MoU for international cooperation between Inter cereals, Arvalis, OCP and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P).
In addition, a framework agreement for the development of education professions between UM6P and the School Office and International University, and the entry of InnovX, a subsidiary of OCP, into the capital of the French start-up NetZero, specializing in biochar (biomass for storing carbon), illustrate the commitment of the two countries to strategic and innovative cooperation.
Co-organized by the the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the the Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF), via the Club des Chefs d’Entreprises France-Maroc, this meeting takes particular importance in the context of the French President Emmanuel Macron’s State visit to Morocco at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, which embodies for both countries the strengthening of historical ties and the resolute projection towards a shared, ambitious and bold future.
