Nigerian Air Force Kills 35 Suspected Militants in Borno Precision Strikes

Nigeria’s military says it has killed over the week-end at least 35 suspected militants in targeted airstrikes in Kumshe, Borno State, near the Cameroon border. The Nigerian Air Force launched the operation against four identified targets after insurgents attempted attacks on ground troops in the area. Spokesperson Ehimen Ejodame confirmed that the strikes helped stabilise the situation, with ground forces re-establishing communication and regaining control of their positions.
The offensive comes as Nigeria continues its long-running battle against Boko Haram and its splinter faction, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), both of which remain active in the country’s northeast. The insurgency, which began in 2009, has killed more than 35,000 civilians and displaced over 2 million people, spilling violence into neighbouring Niger. Despite government efforts under President Bola Tinubu to curb militant activity, Nigeria still faces overlapping security crises, including armed banditry in its north-central and north-western regions.
