Cape Verde’s postal service has announced on Wednesday that it will suspend shipments of parcels valued at more than 100 U.S. dollars to the United States beginning Friday. The decision follows operational adjustments triggered by changes in U.S. import regulations, according to Isidoro Gomes, president of Cape Verde Post.
The United States recently scrapped its de minimis rule, which had allowed goods under 800 dollars to enter duty-free. Under the new policy, all imports are now subject to applicable taxes, with only non-commercial shipments worth less than 100 dollars — such as gifts exchanged between individuals — exempted.
