Senegal’s President Faye Unveils New Cabinet with Key Ministerial Changes

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has announced over the week-end a new government of 26 ministers and six State secretaries, retaining Ousmane Sonko as Prime minister but reshuffling key portfolios.
Mouhamadou Bamba Cisse was named minister of interior and public security, replacing Jean Baptiste Tine, while Yacine Fall moved from foreign affairs to head the justice ministry, succeeding Ousmane Diagne. Cheikh Niang, entering the cabinet for the first time, assumed the foreign affairs portfolio, and Olivier Boucal was appointed minister of labour, replacing Abbas Fall, recently elected mayor of Dakar.
Speaking after the announcement, Prime Minister Sonko stressed that the reshuffle was not a departure from the administration’s political vision but part of efforts to strengthen governance. The changes mark a significant step in consolidating President Faye’s leadership, signalling a balance between continuity and renewal in Senegal’s political landscape.
