In the framework of the upcoming VI Meeting of Ministers of Interior and Internal Administration of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), scheduled for 27–31 October 2025 in Luanda, Angola has emphasised the urgent need to strengthen technical and institutional collaboration among member States in matters of internal security.
According to announcements linked to the preparatory experts’ meeting, Angolan authorities propose that initiatives for police cooperation, information-sharing and border-management be prioritised to respond to transnational crime and mobility-related risks across the Lusophone space.
The push for deeper integration comes amid a broader agenda to implement the CPLP Mobility Agreement—which seeks to ease the movement of people and goods among member states—and for Angola to take a more proactive role within the community. Angola’s appeal underlines that security and order internal to member states are vital for the credibility of that mobility framework, and that only through coherent multilateral systems can policing, migration control and border security be effectively harmonised within the Lusophone world.
