AFCON 2025 Opener: Morocco Secures 2-0 Victory Over Comoros

Morocco secured a 2-0 victory over Comoros in their AFCON 2025 opener which took place in Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Brahim Diaz gave the Atlas Lions the lead in the 55th minute, followed by a spectacular bicycle-kick goal from Ayoub El Kaabi in the 75th. Despite an early missed penalty and Romain Saïss leaving injured, Morocco dominated and claimed the precious three points. The Atlas Lions’ next match is scheduled against Mali on December 26.

The match started with an early chance for Morocco in the 10th minute, when a penalty was awarded. Soufiane Rahimi’s spot-kick was brilliantly saved by Comoros goalkeeper Yannick Pandor, keeping the score level.

Morocco also had to deal with an early setback when Romain Saïss was forced off through injury, replaced by Jawad El Yamiq. Despite this, Morocco gradually took control, dominating possession of the ball and taking seven shots in the first half, though they couldn’t break through before halftime.
