Madagascar President dismisses Prime minister and entire Cabinet

Madagascar’s President Michael Randrianirina has dismissed Prime Minister and the entire Cabinet, according to a statement issued by the Presidency on March 9.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Laurent Rahajason said the President will soon appoint a new prime minister in accordance with constitutional procedures but did not provide reasons for the decision.

Randrianirina came to power in October 2025 following mass protests that forced former president Andry Rajoelina out of office.

The leadership change marks a significant political move in the Indian Ocean island nation as the president prepares to form a new government.
