Polling stations across Guinea opened on Sunday morning for legislative and local elections, with voting commencing between 07:30 GMT and 08:00 GMT in most parts of the capital, Conakry, in what authorities and observers described as an orderly and largely peaceful process.
With more than 6.7 million registered voters nationwide, the electorate is expected to choose 147 members of the National Assembly, alongside municipal councillors across 342 Communes.
Across polling stations, civic participation was visible and steady, with voters expressing satisfaction at being part of the democratic exercise and encouraging broader turnout.
Election operations were held under the supervision of national electoral authorities, supported by observers tasked with ensuring credibility, order, and adherence to electoral procedures across the country.
Main Opposition parties have called for boycotting these elections.
