Rabat Hosts 2nd Edition of African Network of Documentation, Archives & Research in Francophone Parliaments

The second edition of the African Network of Documentation, Archives and Research in Francophone Parliaments (RADAR) opened on Wednesday at the headquarters of the House of Representatives in Rabat.

The three-day meeting, bringing together administrative delegations and specialists representing several parliaments from Francophone African countries, aims to strengthen cooperation and the exchange of expertise and best practices among Francophone African parliaments in the fields of documentation, archives, and parliamentary research, in addition to the examination of perspectives for the development of documentary, archival and research practices.

The event will further address the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in processing and managing documentary and legislative collections, research services, and access to parliamentary information.

RADAR President, Diouf Thiécoumba, stated in an opening address that this session represents “the phase of maturity and structured action” for the Network, following its launch in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, in 2025. He further explained that documentation, archives and parliamentary research are now fundamental pillars of institutional transparency, quality legislation and monitoring government action through providing neutral and reliable data.

The three-day program includes a plenary session dedicated to discussing and adopting the Network’s tripartite work plan, as well as organizing specialized scientific workshops on national archives, digital transformation, and AI. The program also features presentations on Morocco’s experience in archive management, the enhancement of documentary resources, and support for parliamentary work.
