Russia has outlined key priorities for the 3r Russia-Africa Summit scheduled for October 2026 in Moscow, with a focus on strengthening economic cooperation, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, food security and alternative payment systems.
Speaking after talks with Guinea-Bissau’s Foreign Minister Fatumata Djau Balde on Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the Summit would seek practical outcomes, including expanding trade in non-Western reserve currencies and promoting agricultural and fertilizer production in Africa rather than relying solely on Russian exports.
Lavrov also announced that Guinea-Bissau’s transitional President, Horta Inta-A Na Man, would attend the summit. The two countries further agreed to begin preparations for their first joint business forum and explore new areas of economic cooperation.
Balde said the discussions marked a “new stage” in bilateral relations, with both sides agreeing to deepen cooperation in agriculture, food security, education, science, healthcare, investment, innovation and technology exchange.
