South Sudan President Salva Kiir has officially opened on Thursday Terminal 3 at Juba International Airport, describing the facility as a major milestone in the country’s infrastructure development and aviation sector.
The new terminal, launched under the theme “A New Era of Safe, Secure, and Sustainable Air Transport for All,” is designed to improve passenger services and bring the country’s main Airport in line with international aviation standards.
President Kiir thanked the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority and other stakeholders involved in delivering the project despite challenges. He said investments in critical infrastructure remain central to his government’s vision of building a peaceful, prosperous and connected South Sudan.
The President also called for greater accountability in public projects, urging officials to ensure proper contract management and prevent delays caused by poor implementation. Kiir said the opening of the terminal sends a positive message to the international community and encouraged investors to support the growth of South Sudan’s aviation sector.
