U.S. hails partnership with Mauritania over fight against terrorism

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has thrown roses to Mauritania as he celebrated in a message the partnership between the two countries in the fight against terrorism.

“The United States appreciates the Government of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania’s measures to improve governance, address human rights concerns, include refugees, and spur economic development throughout the region. Furthermore, the United States appreciates our strong partnership in the fight against terrorism, which is essential to the security of both the Mauritanian and the American people,” the US top diplomat said in a message of wishes to the government and people of Mauritania celebrating 63 years of independence.

The US top diplomat indicated that Washington “greatly values our bilateral relationship with Mauritania, and we look forward to strengthening our partnership in the years ahead.”

Mauritania is member of U.S-sponsored Trans-Sahara Counterterrorism Partnership (TSCTP), a multi-faceted, multi-year U.S. strategy aimed at developing resilient institutions that are capable of preventing and responding to terrorism in a holistic, long-term manner.
