Angola to auction 44 special diamonds electronically this month

In its latest auction, Angola’s state-owned diamond trading company, Sodiam, secured $21.6 million (19.3 million euros) from the sale of 46 special stones weighing a total of 2,974.24 carats. These diamonds came from the Somiluana, Lulo, Kaixepa, Luele, and Catoca mining companies, with 36 bidders participating.
Sodiam has now announced another online auction featuring 44 special stones, each weighing approximately 10.80 carats. The viewing sessions for this auction are scheduled from October 7th to 16th at Sodiam’s headquarters in Luanda, with bidding closing at 10:00 AM local time on the final day.
This auction is being organized in partnership with TRANS ATLANTIC GEM SALES and is open to registered Sodiam clients with specialized knowledge in trading special stones. The lots consist of 20 stones from the Kaixepa mining company, 10 from Luele, eight from Catoca, two from Chitotolo, two from Tchegi, and one each from Lulo and Somiluana.
This will mark Sodiam’s eleventh rough diamond auction, following a successful event in July that also raised $21.6 million from special stone sales.
