King Mohammed VI has sent a message of thanks to the President of Panama, José Raúl Mulino Quintero, following his country’s wise decision regarding the Sahara issue, the Kingdom’s first National Cause.
“I would like to address my most sincere thanks, following the wise decision undertaken by your friendly country on November 21, 2024, relating to the Kingdom of Morocco’s first National Cause,” the King wrote in his message, describing this decision as “highly significant” as it reinforces Morocco’s legitimate rights, falls “in line with international legality,” and “is consistent with the ongoing global momentum.”
“I am pleased that a new page is being opened in the bilateral ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Panama,” the King said, stressing that “the Kingdom is driven by a genuine desire to strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation with Panama, in all fields, for the benefit of our two peoples.”
On November 21, Panama announced that it had cut all ties with the self-proclaimed Polisario entity.
“The Republic of Panama, prioritizing national interests and adhering to the core principles of its foreign policy, reaffirms its commitment to the objectives and values that underpin multilateralism,” the country’s foreign ministry had said in a statement.
Panama “reiterates its commitment to dialogue and multilateral cooperation, in full compliance with a constructive foreign policy aimed at strengthening international peace and security,” the statement added.
