Popular Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, known as 2Baba or Tuface, has confirmed on January 27 his separation from his wife, actress Annie Idibia. The couple, who married in 2012 and have two daughters, had been regarded as one of Nigeria’s most famous celebrity pairs.
In an Instagram post, 2Baba revealed that they had been separated for some time and were in the process of filing for divorce. Though the initial post was deleted, he later released a video to confirm the accuracy of his statement, asserting that his account had not been hacked, and that he was speaking in peace.
The news has come as a shock to many, given the couple’s history of overcoming previous challenges. Their wedding in 2013 was a highly publicised event in Dubai, and their relationship had remained a prominent fixture in Nigerian celebrity culture. 2Baba, a pioneer of the global rise of Nigerian music, revealed plans to hold a press conference to discuss the separation further. Both 2Baba and Annie have also unfollowed each other on social media, adding to the confirmation of their split.
