Angola has reported 123 new cholera cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health. The cases were recorded in several provinces, with Luanda reporting the highest number of infections, followed by Bengo and Icolo.
Tragically, four deaths have also been confirmed, three in Luanda and one in Bengo, further escalating concerns about the ongoing cholera outbreak.
The country’s cholera situation has been worsening since the outbreak began in early January, with a cumulative total of 5,872 cases now reported. The majority of those affected are aged between two and 100 years, with 56% being male. Currently, 178 individuals are receiving treatment in hospitals, and 92 have been discharged. Health officials are intensifying efforts to control the spread, as the outbreak continues to strain the healthcare system.
In response to the increasing number of cases, authorities are continuing to implement preventive measures, including vaccination campaigns and public awareness initiatives. Health experts urge the population to remain vigilant and practice proper hygiene, as cholera remains a serious threat, particularly in areas with poor sanitation.
