
King Mohammed VI has named, during a Ministers’ Council he chaired this Monday at the Royal Palace in Rabat, ambassadors to a number of countries, and made several other senior appointments, Spokesman for the Royal Palace said in a statement.
The list of new ambassadors includes Youssef Imani, Ambassador to Ethiopia; Mohamed Salah Babana Alaoui, ambassador to Guinea-Bissau; Sidi Mohamed Biadillah, envoy to Mozambique; Khalid Afkir, Ambassador to Zambia; and Mrs Nezha Alaoui M’Hamdi, Ambassador to Rwanda.
The Monarch also named El Hassan Lasri, Ambassador to Irak; Redouane Adghoghi, Ambassador to Poland; Mrs. Nadia El Hnot, envoy to the Philippines; Mrs. Meryem Naji, Ambassador to Vietnam; and Mrs Amine Chabi, envoy to Pakistan.
During the Council of Ministers, the King also appointed 25 senior officials as governors at the interior ministry.
The Monarch appointed Nezha Hayat as head of the Mohammed VI Investment Fund, while Said Jabrani was named director general of the national company for enterprise insurance and financing.
During the meeting, Agriculture Minister Ahmed Bouari made a presentation on the impact of the recent rainfall on the crop year and the replenishment of livestock.
A positive impact was notably reported in cereals as well as winter and spring crops, in addition to enhancing pasture, key to growing livestock, the agriculture minister said.
In this respect, the King ordered measures to replenish the national livestock herds.
Speaking during the meeting, Water Minister Nizar Baraka said thanks to the recent rain, dam filling rate grew to 40.3%, enough to cover freshwater needs for one year and a half.
The King also approved draft laws relating to military personnel, judges, Airforce as well as 11 bilateral agreements on judicial, customs, higher education, scientific research, transport, logistics, energy, fight against fiscal evasion, in addition to a deal to host the African Union headquarters for the visually impaired.
