Panama President Sends Message to King Mohammed VI

President of Panama José Raul Mulino has sent a written message to King Mohammed VI. The message was handed over to Moroccan Foreign minister Nasser Bourita by his Panamanian peer Javier Martínez-Acha Vásquez during a meeting held Monday in Rabat.

In a joint statement released following the two ministers meeting, Panama voiced firm support for Morocco’s autonomy plan offered for the Sahara under its sovereignty, describing the proposed Moroccan plan as the ONLY realistic solution for the resolution of the decades-long conflict.

He also paid tribute to Morocco’s pioneering role in Africa, saying the Kingdom is a credible and valued partner on the international stage. He cited in this regard the Royal Initiative seeking stability, security and economic prosperity in Atlantic African countries, the Initiative offering Sahel countries access to the Atlantic Ocean, and the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline megaproject.

Panama’s top diplomat also hailed Morocco’s leading role in the fight against terrorism and organized crime and in fostering peace and security in Africa.

The two ministers lauded the excellent ties of friendship and cooperation founded on the principles of peaceful coexistence, democracy and good governance, solidarity, transparency, mutual respect, respect for human rights and international humanitarian law and the non-use of unilateral sanctions.

They voiced attachment to the two countries’ territorial integrity & sovereignty and hailed convergence of views on regional & international issues, underlining determination to work for peace & security in the world.

The ministers agreed to join efforts to address global challenges such as climate change, gender, human rights, blue agenda, green agenda, food security, health, prevention, preparation and response to pandemics, and the fight against insecurity and corruption and other sectors in the various international and multilateral forums.

The two countries expressed commitment to enhance investment and trade between the two countries offering huge business opportunities in various strategic sectors.
