Dakar Hosts West Africa’s First International Auto Equipment Trade Show

Senegal’s capital launched the International Auto Equipment Trade Show – Dakar 2025 on June 20 at CICES, marking a milestone for West Africa’s automotive aftermarket sector with focus on innovation, training, and strategic partnerships.

AutoSP International President Luc Azilinon, the event’s initiator, emphasized the show’s mission to transform the regional automotive industry. “We aim to meet garage operators, enhance their training, and provide concrete solutions for the automotive industry’s transformation,” he stated, highlighting the need for West African countries to transition from consumers to vehicle manufacturers.

The inaugural event attracted exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge automotive technologies adapted to regional needs. El Hadji Diop, an exhibitor presenting modern spare parts and instruments, stressed the importance of reducing physical effort and optimizing work time through technological innovation. “We’re helping garage operators and users stay connected to global technological evolution,” he explained.

Stéphan Lebeau, exhibitor at the event, highlighted high-performance lubricants designed for vehicle longevity, describing the trade show as “a win-win synergy space between exhibitors and the Senegalese public.” His company offers maintenance products supporting the transition toward more reliable and durable automobiles.

The three-day event features practical workshops, B2B exchanges, and technology demonstrations aimed at mechanics, garage operators, industry professionals, and institutions. Organizers envision the show as a gateway to modernization, digitalization, and skills enhancement for local professionals.

This pioneering initiative reflects West Africa’s growing automotive ambitions, and underscores the continent’s determination to develop local automotive capabilities while adapting to global industry transformations.
