Angola Creates Over 100,000 Net Formal Jobs in First Half of 2025

Angola has recorded the creation of over 102,000 net formal jobs in the first half of 2025, according to figures released by the Government on July 3. The positive employment performance reflects efforts to stimulate the labour market and boost formal job opportunities across various sectors. The new positions were largely generated within real estate, trade, construction, hospitality, and the extractive industries—sectors showing notable resilience and expansion amid broader economic challenges.

The employment boost comes as part of Angola’s strategy to reduce reliance on informal work and address high levels of unemployment, especially among the youth. Authorities have emphasised the importance of maintaining the momentum by strengthening vocational training, encouraging private sector participation, and enhancing job quality. The government also reiterated its commitment to aligning job creation efforts with national development goals to foster inclusive growth and long-term economic stability.
