The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed on Monday, August 11, that more than 400 terrorists were killed during a major joint air and ground offensive in Zamfara State’s Makakkari Forest on Sunday.
The assault, codenamed ‘Operation Fasan Yamma’, was launched following credible intelligence and involved precision airstrikes coupled with coordinated ground attacks. According to Air Force spokesperson Ehimen Ejodame, the operation eliminated several notorious kingpins along with large numbers of their fighters.
Banditry remains a persistent security crisis in Nigeria’s northwest and north-central regions, with armed groups carrying out deadly raids, mass kidnappings, and large-scale looting. President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s uncompromising position on the issue, warning bandits and terrorists to surrender or face decisive military action.
