Senegal has been plunged into grief following the death of promising young goalkeeper Cheikh Touré, who was found dead in Ghana after being deceived by fake football scouts.
According to Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Touré was lured to Ghana under the guise of attending a professional trial with a major football club. Filled with hope for an international career, the young athlete unknowingly walked into a deadly trap orchestrated by kidnappers.
Reports reveal that Touré was abducted upon arrival, and his captors demanded a ransom from his family, which they were unable to pay.
The incident ended tragically with the player’s death, prompting an immediate joint investigation between Senegalese and Ghanaian authorities.
Efforts are underway to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice. Friends and teammates have remembered Cheikh Touré as a humble and talented player whose life and dreams were cut short far too soon.
