French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived on Monday, November 24 in Luanda, Angola, to participate in the 7th African Union–European Union Summit, held from 24–25 November. The gathering, led by Angolan President João Lourenço and European Council President António Costa, marks 25 years of AU–EU partnership. Discussions will centre on peace and security, economic integration, migration, climate cooperation and reforms to global governance systems.
On the sidelines, Macron met with the Chair of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf. The two leaders committed to strengthening collaboration on trade, climate priorities and reforms to international financial and multilateral institutions
