Türkiye and Niger have signed a series of cooperation agreements covering higher education, trade, healthcare and diplomatic training following talks between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Nigerien leader Abdourahamane Tchiani in Ankara on Thursday, June 4.
The agreements were concluded after bilateral and delegation-level discussions aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries.
Among the key deals was a 2026–2030 implementation protocol designed to expand cooperation in higher education, research and innovation. The two sides also signed a joint declaration establishing a Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO) to boost trade and investment relations.
In the health sector, officials agreed on the joint operation and eventual transfer of the Niger–Türkiye Friendship Hospital, a flagship project symbolizing growing cooperation between the two nations.
Another memorandum of understanding focuses on diplomatic training and strategic studies through collaboration between Türkiye’s Diplomacy Academy and Niger’s National Institute for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies.
The agreements underscore efforts by both countries to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across key sectors including education, commerce, healthcare and diplomacy.
