Nigeria is currently producing 1.71 million barrels of crude oil per day, including a record 365,000 bpd from the exploration and production unit of the State-owned NNPC Limited, its chief executive Bashir Ojulari said on Tuesday, July 7.
Speaking at an oil conference in Abuja, Ojulari said NNPC was on course to raise national oil output to 2 million bpd and had fulfilled all joint-venture cash-call obligations in 2025 and the first half of 2026.
He attributed the increase to improved operations at five export terminals, which recorded 98 per cent availability between April 2025 and May 2026. Nigeria’s gas production has also increased to 7.5 billion cubic feet per day, supported by infrastructure projects including the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline and the ANOH gas plant. NNPC has also secured gas sales agreements for LNG exports and domestic users, including the Dangote Refinery.
