Kenyan aviation workers called off a two-day strike on Tuesday after their union reached an agreement with the Kenya Airports Authority and other parties. Kenya Aviation Workers Union head Moss Ndiema said the industrial action, which began on Sunday, had ended with immediate effect.
The strike disrupted operations at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, causing flight cancellations and delays that left many passengers stranded. Airports elsewhere in Kenya were also affected. Union members accused the authorities of unfair recruitment practices, inadequate pay and planning changes to the management of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The airport, a major regional and international transport hub, has faced repeated industrial action over pay and working conditions. A similar strike in February also disrupted flights and stranded passengers.
