Bloomberg reported on Monday, September 14, 2026, citing an email statement, that the meeting would focus on Senegal’s economic situation and its ongoing reform programme.
The talks come as Senegal struggles with a substantial debt burden following the discovery of previously undisclosed liabilities owed to external creditors under the former administration of President Macky Sall. The disclosure has complicated the West African country’s efforts to obtain financing from international lenders as the government works to address weaknesses in its public finances.
