Côte d’Ivoire will launch a pilot project costing 2 billion CFA francs ($3.5 million) to support the socio-economic reintegration of returning migrants.
Minister Delegate for African Integration and Ivorians Abroad, Adama Dosso, announced the 18-to-24-month initiative on Thursday, October 29, during the opening of the second National Conference on Migrants Reintegration.
The KITLANY project, led by the international platform Stay in Africa, aims to support 300 people, including 200 returning migrants and 100 young people from affected communities.
It will provide psychosocial support, vocational training and employment opportunities, with an estimated 150 direct jobs and indirect benefits for 1,200 people. The Government is seeking to raise more than 50 per cent of the required funding through two donor roundtables scheduled during the two-day conference.
Official figures indicate that 4,125 returning migrants had received Government support by the end of September 2026, compared with 2,313 throughout 2025.
Mr Dosso said the initiative was intended to help returning migrants rebuild their lives, integrate economically and contribute to sustainable development.
