Guinea: Ismael Condé sentenced to more than 3 years in prison for “offending the Head of State

The verdict has just come down from the court of first instance in Mafanco! Accused of “offending the person of the President of the Republic, production, dissemination and making available to others of data likely to disturb public order, insults through a computer system”, Ismael Conde was found guilty.
This opponent, a defector from the RPG arc-en-ciel, who became a staunch UFDG activist, was sentenced on Thursday, July 8, 2021, to 3 years 4 months in prison and a fine of 30 million Guinean francs. The defense lawyers appealed just after the sentence was announced.
On the other case where he was prosecuted with the Mayor of the Commune of Matam Seydou Sacko for “fraud, hindering free access and equality of candidates in contracts, concessions and equality of public service and complicity”, the 1st Vice-Mayor Ismaël Conde and his co-accused were found not guilty by the president of the court of first instance of Mafanco, Djenabou Doghol Diallo. She dismissed them from the prosecution for an offence that was not constituted and ordered their release, if they are only detained for these facts.
