Aeronautics: Israel Aerospace Industries to Share its Technologies with Morocco

Morocco has partnered with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to bolster further its aeronautic manufacturing capabilities and give them a more competitive edge.

A cooperation agreement was inked Wednesday in Rabat by Moroccan Minister of Industry & Trade Ryad Mezzour, chairman of IAI Managing Board Amir Peretz, and IAI CEO Boaz Levy.

The signatories pledge to foster cooperation in 3D printing, the manufacturing of engine parts, aircraft cabin and aerostructure components. They also agreed to set up a R&D and engineering centre and strengthen the local supplier cluster outsourcing.

Speaking to journalists following the signing ceremony, Mezzour stressed the importance of the strategic partnership sealed between Morocco and IAI, saying it opens up the way for a “win-win” industrial collaboration in the aeronautics industry.

This partnership, which combines Morocco’s advanced aeronautic capabilities with IAI’s technological expertise, will help create jobs opportunities, enhance local skills, manufacturing, R&D and innovation.

“Together we will build joint teams that will turn our vision into reality”, said Mr. Peretz, describing the agreement as a forward step in building a strong partnership in aeronautics, while Mr. Levy said the cooperation agreement signed between IAI and Morocco will help promote joint projects and contribute to the development of the global aerospace industry.

IAI is Israel’s major aerospace and aviation manufacturer, producing aerial and astronautic systems for both military and civilian usage. Set up in 1953, IAI designs, develops, produces and maintains civil aircraft, drones, fighter aircraft, missile, avionics, and space-based systems.

Although IAI’s main focus is engineering, aviation and high-tech electronics, it also manufactures military systems for ground and naval forces.
