The National Assembly of Cape Verde resumed its parliamentary activities on October 9, marking the first regular session of the month, which will continue until Friday, following the annual holiday recess.
The session’s agenda includes a ministerial Q&A session, where the ruling Movement for Democracy (MpD) has requested the presence of the Minister of Agriculture and Environment for discussions. Meanwhile, the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) plans to address questions to the Minister of Education.
Additionally, the parliament will deliberate on a bill proposing the establishment of a National Organizing Committee for the 50th Anniversary of National Independence, which will be celebrated in 2025.
There will also be discussions, both in general and specific terms, on bills aimed at reducing the probationary period for magistrates in the Public Prosecution Service and the Judicial Magistrates Statute.
The MpD holds 38 seats in the Assembly, while the PAICV has 30, and the Independent and Democratic Cape Verdean Union (UCID) holds four.
