US President Joe Biden will travel to Angola in the first week of December, the White House confirmed on Thursday November 21. The trip to Angola was initially scheduled for October 2024, but Biden postponed it to oversee Hurricane Milton’s passage through the United States.
In Angola, Biden will be received by the country’s President, João Lourenço, according to White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre. Biden, Jean-Pierre noted, “will recognize Angola’s role as a regional leader and highlight the significant transformation in the relationship between the United States and Angola.” The White House also indicated that both countries are working on several “urgent challenges,” including closing the infrastructure gap in Africa, strengthening peace and security, and improving food security. The US head of state will also take advantage of the trip to meet with representatives of the private sector.
