Transports_Airci (4)(1)The international airport Felix Houphouet -Boigny in Abidjan, beat its annual attendance record with nearly “1 million 500 thousand passengers at the end of the year 2014”.

“Ivory Coast is again a destination for tourism, a transit country for passengers….three years after the electoral crisis. “We have just beaten the same airport annual attendance record, which dated from 1999, with nearly 1 million 500 thousand passengers in 2014 “.The record was welcomed on Wednesday by the Head of State, President Alassane Ouattara in his new year message to Ivorians.

According to him, this development is confirmed by the rapid expansion of the National Company, Air Côte d’Ivoire, which operates in West Africa and Central Africa and has resumed domestic flights to San Pedro, Bouaké and Korhogo.

“Our good relationships with the Bretton Woods institutions and the return of the African Development Bank in Abidjan attest the quality of this new image that Ivory Coast shows to the world,” he continued.

For the Ivorian Head of State, Côte d’Ivoire “is back on the international scene” with its voice that counts again and its signature is respected.

Ouattara has proved the resounding success of the Eurobond issued in 2014 and the good ranking of Côte d’Ivoire.

In addition, according to the preliminary figures on scheduled services released by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), some of 3.2 billion passengers have used air transport for their business and tourism needs in 2014. The annual total passengers were approximately five per cent compared to 2013 and are expected to reach over 6.4 billion by 2030, based on current projections.
