At least 23 suspected terrorists were killed in a fierce gunfight with Nigerian troops in Katsina State, according to reports from the state-owned News Agency of Nigeria on Monday, September 8.
The clash occurred on Saturday in Pauwa village, within Kankara local government area, where troops also freed 26 kidnapped victims, including women and children.
During the operation, security forces destroyed motorcycles, farm machinery, auto spare parts, lubricants and foodstuffs recovered from the suspects. A military source said the army remains committed to sustaining its offensive against terrorists and criminal gangs nationwide until lasting peace is restored.
