CAF confirms Morocco as host of 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) remains steadfast in its commitment to Morocco as host of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. CAF President Patrice Motsepe delivered an emphatic endorsement Monday during the organization’s annual leadership summit in Kinshasa.

Speaking before an audience that included FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Motsepe dismissed any possibility of relocating the tournament. “Morocco is Plan A, Morocco is Plan B, and Morocco is Plan C,” the South African businessman declared, underlining the confederation’s unwavering position on the hosting arrangements.

Motsepe expressed confidence in Morocco’s capacity to deliver a successful tournament. He pledged CAF’s full cooperation with Moroccan authorities and citizens to ensure what he termed would be “the most successful CAN in history.”

The tournament, scheduled to run from December 21, 2025, through January 18, 2026, will feature 24 national teams competing across multiple venues. This marks Morocco’s second time hosting the continental championship, following the 1988 edition when only eight nations participated.
