Tunisian Students March in Solidarity with Palestine on Gaza War Anniversary

Hundreds of Tunisian students took to the streets of downtown Tunis on Tuesday, October 7, to express solidarity with the Palestinian people, marking two years since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict in October 2023.
The rally, organised by the General Union of Students of Tunisia, began outside the Municipal Theatre on Habib Bourguiba Avenue. Demonstrators chanted slogans demanding the liberation of Palestine and condemning normalisation with Israel, while also calling for boycotts of companies accused of supporting Israeli actions. The protest proceeded peacefully under tight security.
The Gaza conflict erupted on 7 October 2023, when Hamas launched a deadly assault on southern Israel, killing around 1,200 people and capturing approximately 250 hostages, according to Israeli officials. Since then, Israel’s military operations have triggered a devastating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where local health authorities report that the death toll has exceeded 67,000. The Tunisian students’ demonstration reflects ongoing regional and global outrage over the prolonged conflict and the mounting civilian toll.
