Türkiye has initiated a series of Search and rescue (SAR) training flights across Senegal’s airspace and maritime zones, marking a renewed phase of defence cooperation between the two nations.
The Turkish National Defence Ministry, in a statement released on X on Wednesday, 3 December, confirmed that personnel from Türkiye’s naval forces had commenced the operations, designed to elevate tactical coordination and reinforce long-standing military ties.
The programme includes orientation and area-familiarisation sorties, undertaken with active participation from Senegalese aircrew as part of efforts to strengthen their operational readiness. Defence officials say the initiative underscores a shared commitment to enhanced regional security and reflects Ankara’s evolving footprint in collaborative security frameworks across Africa.
