Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema Organizes Solidarity Initiative for Underprivileged Ethiopians

The Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema organized in Addis Ababa a solidarity initiative benefiting underprivileged Ethiopian families on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

Initiated in coordination with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Ethiopia, the initiative involved the distribution of 500 food baskets to the most vulnerable groups, including orphans and their families, the elderly, families with members with special needs, and households living in extreme poverty. Beneficiaries were selected in coordination with local mosques, their committees, and civil society representatives in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Speaking on the occasion, Morocco’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti, Nezha Alaoui M’hammdi, stressed that this solidarity initiative reflects the High Solicitude with which Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, surrounds underprivileged groups across African countries. She added that the initiative also reflects the depth of the religious and cultural ties linking the Kingdom with several African countries, including Ethiopia.

For his part, the Vice-President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Ethiopia, Hamid Moussa, expressed his gratitude to Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, for this generous humanitarian gesture benefiting underprivileged Ethiopians, highlighting the positive impact of the initiative on disadvantaged families and its contribution to strengthening the values of fraternity and coexistence within Ethiopian society.

He also underscored the efforts deployed by the Foundation to promote the values advocated by Islam.

Beneficiaries of the solidarity initiative expressed their gratitude to the Foundation for this highly supportive action embodying the values of generosity and human solidarity.
