Nigeria says it is looking to deepen bilateral cooperation with Germany in key sectors ahead of a high-level meeting between Nigerian Foreign Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu and German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul on 22 July 2026.
In a statement issued on 21 July 2026, Nigeria’s Foreign Ministry said the talks would review and strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two countries, while exploring new opportunities to support inclusive economic growth, regional stability and shared prosperity.
The ministry described Germany as one of Nigeria’s leading strategic partners in Europe, with cooperation covering trade and investment, renewable energy, climate action, technical assistance, education, healthcare, migration, agriculture, digital innovation and security.
The discussions are expected to focus on expanding trade and investment, attracting more German investment into Nigeria’s priority sectors, enhancing cooperation in renewable energy and green development, promoting vocational education and skills development, and strengthening collaboration in science, technology and innovation.
