Morocco and Mali have taken a new step toward strengthening economic cooperation with the relaunch of the Morocco-Mali Business Council during the Mali-Morocco Business Forum held in Bamako on the sidelines of the 4th session of the Morocco-Mali Joint Cooperation Commission.
Organized by the Mali Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIM) and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), in partnership with the National Employers’ Council of Mali (CNPM), the forum brought together more than 300 business leaders and economic operators from both countries, underscoring growing interest in investment and co-development opportunities.
The event was attended by Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, his Malian counterpart Moussa Alassane Diallo, CGEM Vice-President Mehdi Tazi, CCIM President Madiou Simpara, and CNPM President Mossadeck Bally.
The Moroccan delegation included companies from strategic sectors such as agribusiness, energy, construction, mining, finance, telecommunications and logistics, reflecting the diversity of opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
Another agreement was signed between Morocco’s Federation of Metallurgical, Mechanical and Electromechanical Industries (FENELEC) and Mali’s FENEM to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector.
Participants emphasized the importance of boosting intra-African trade, developing regional value chains and supporting projects capable of generating growth and employment across the continent. The discussions also highlighted the Royal Atlantic Initiative launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which seeks to facilitate Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean and strengthen regional connectivity and economic integration.
