The World Aquaculture Society (WAS) has expressed interest in partnering with Angola to strengthen the country’s aquaculture sector and promote sustainable fish production.
The proposed cooperation is aimed at supporting aquaculture development through knowledge sharing, technical assistance and capacity building to improve production and strengthen the skills of sector players.
Angola has identified aquaculture as a strategic area for improving food security, creating jobs and diversifying its economy. The country has been implementing measures to expand fish farming, improve infrastructure and encourage investment in the sector.
The partnership comes as Angola continues efforts to develop sustainable management of aquatic resources and increase domestic food production.
The World Aquaculture Society’s involvement is expected to support the growth of the sector by enhancing technical expertise, promoting innovation and helping position Angola as a stronger player in regional aquaculture development.
