Morocco’s airports recorded historic passenger peaks this summer, confirming a structural shift in scale for Airports of Morocco, formerly the National Airports Office (ONDA), Aujourd’hui le Maroc reports. At Casablanca Mohammed V, one of the season’s high points came during the first weekend of August, with a historic peak of 46,439 passengers handled in 24 hours.
The intensified activity was visible across the network. Marrakech-Menara crossed the 30,000-passenger threshold in a single day, while Rabat-Salé recorded 9,226 passengers in a day, Agadir-Al Massira welcomed 11,973 passengers on its peak day, and Tangier-Ibn Battouta handled 13,309. The sharpest increases came at Dakhla and Tétouan, with peak-day traffic up 45.2 percent and 36.14 percent respectively.
These summer peaks fit within what Airports of Morocco describes as a now-structural growth trajectory.
After crossing the record threshold of 36.3 million passengers in 2025, national air traffic continues to accelerate, the operator said, underscoring the growing role airports play in the Kingdom’s openness and international attractiveness. Managing rising volumes while maintaining operational quality forms one of the central pillars of the transformation under way as part of the “Airports 2030” strategy, encompassing capacity expansion, infrastructure modernization, service digitalization and streamlined passenger journeys.
The performance also rests on coordinated efforts across the airport chain, with Airports of Morocco working alongside the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the national police (DGSN), the customs and excise administration (ADII), the Royal Gendarmerie and Royal Air Maroc to manage these traffic peaks. The operator said it is pursuing a transformation matched to this new scale of traffic, aimed at durably strengthening the network’s capacity, accelerating air connectivity and making airport performance a decisive factor in Morocco’s international attractiveness.
