South African Police discovered the body of a ninth woman in Dawn Park, Boksburg, on Thursday, September 17, 2026, following the discovery of eight other bodies across Ekurhuleni during the previous two months.
The South African Police Service said a multidisciplinary team of investigators and specialists had been assembled to examine the cases and identify those responsible. Additional officers have also been deployed to increase patrols and police visibility in the area.
Acting National Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane assured residents that investigations were being intensified.
She also conveyed condolences to the family of 38-year-old Dineo Evelyn Motapane, whose body was found beside a road in KwaThema, Springs. Her family identified her at the Springs Mortuary on Wednesday, September 16. She had last been seen alive on Sunday, September 13.
