Zimbabwe’s trade surplus widens to $526.5m in August as exports rise

Zimbabwe’s monthly trade surplus rose to US$526.5 million in August, up from US$320 million in July, according to figures released by the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) on Monday, 28 September.

Exports increased from US$1.47 billion in July to US$1.68 billion in August, while imports edged up from US$1.150 billion to US$1.152 billion. Semi-manufactured gold made up 44% of exports.

The United Arab Emirates was Zimbabwe’s largest export destination, accounting for 44.6% of the total, followed by China at 32.2% and South Africa at 13%.
