King Mohammed VI received Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, Head of Government tasked with forming the new government, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the Royal Palace in Rabat, said the Royal Office in a statement.
During this Audience, the Head of Government briefed the Monarch on various stages of the government formation process achieved thus far.
During the audience, the King expressed to the Head of Government his best wishes for success in her mission of forming a new government, and emphasized that the next stage requires a comprehensive involvement and serious, responsible government action, given the scale of issues, challenges and expectations on various fronts, the statement added.
This Royal Audience falls within the framework of constitutional powers conferred upon the King and the Sovereign’s will to ensure the proper functioning of constitutional institutions.
Fatima Ezzahra El mansouri’s Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), the Istiqlal Party, the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) and the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) had announced Monday their agreement to form a coalition government after the September 23 legislative elections and the designation of El Mansouri as Head of Government.
The four parties had issued a joint statement following two rounds of consultations conducted by El Mansouri. The discussions focused on Morocco’s main challenges and the need for a strong and coherent majority able to address citizens’ expectations, the statement had said.
