The ministry of Sports of Comoro Islands has lodged a lawsuit against 54 athletes who vanished in July during a regional handball tournament in Réunion Island, a French department in the Indian Ocean, Comoros Info reports.
Djaanfar Salim Allaoui, minister of sports, referred the case to the prosecution office in capital Moroni.
The 54 hand-ballers, who were attending the Indian Ocean Handball Champions Tournament in the French department, went missing and have not returned home.
Alloui in July vowed to take action against the fugitives. He also gave them a 15-day ultimatum to return home or face international arrest warrant, the media notes.
