Morocco-Nigeria Gas Pipeline Project: UK RPS Chosen for Oceanography Studies

British RPS Group has selected lately by Moroccan National Office of Hydrocarbons & Mines (ONHYM) and Nigeria’s National Petroleum Company (NNPC) to conduct oceanographic studies of Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline project.
Under the contract, RPS teams will measure offshore meteorological and oceanographic conditions for one year along the proposed pipeline route.

The pipeline project is supported by OPEC with the cooperation of 13 countries in West Africa. Its aims are to facilitate increased prosperity in the region by enabling monetization of natural gas resources.
The project, which will have a direct positive impact on more than 340 million people, will strengthen West Africa energy security, support the energy transition through access to less-polluting fuels, and offer a new, alternative export route to Europe.

It will also speed up electrification projects for the benefit of local populations, set up a competitive regional electricity market, boost the regional economy, encourage job-generating industries, reduce gas flaring and promote the use of reliable and sustainable energy.
