King Mohammed VI has sent a message of congratulations to the President of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Dramane Ouattara, and to the First Lady, Dominique Ouattara, on the victory of the Ivorian national team at the 34th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), saying that the Ivorian team offered precious moments of communion to football fans.
“Through its perseverance and fighting spirit, the team has succeeded once again in reaching the summit of African football, and has offered precious moments of communion to football fans in Côte d’Ivoire and throughout the continent,” states the message.
The Sovereign also congratulated Côte d’Ivoire for having successfully hosted the continental sporting event.
The AFCON-2023 was won by the host country, Côte d’Ivoire, after defeating Nigeria 2-1 in the final last sunday.
This is the third trophy for the Elephants after their 1992 and 2015 triumphs.
