Zambia has reaffirmed steadfast support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire Saharan territory, describing the autonomy plan offered by Morocco to the Sahara as the only “credible, serious and realistic” solution, dealing a hard blow to the Algerian regime and its Polisario puppet.
The supportive stand comes in a joint statement released Friday in Rabat following the talks held between Zambian Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mulambo Haimbe and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
Zambia’s top diplomat also voiced his country’s strong backing to the exclusive UN-led efforts to find a realistic, practical and lasting solution to the Sahara regional conflict.
Mr. Bourita thanked Lusaka for its unwavering support, citing in this regard the opening in 2020 of Zambian embassy in Rabat and consulate in Moroccan Saharan city of Laayoune, as well as the participation of this African country in the 2021 ministerial conference in support of the autonomy plan under the Sovereignty of the Kingdom, organized by Morocco and the United States.
